Apart from making a living by selling yogurt, he built a library and a school with that money. Ziaul Haque (91), a resident of Musrivhuja village of Bholahat upazila bordering Chapainawabganj district, has been awarded Ekushe Padak this time. He was awarded a medal in the social service category. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced to stand by his side by appreciating his contribution.
The Prime Minister announced the construction of a building for the library founded by Ziaul Haque. At the same time, he said that he will also take the initiative to see if the school established by him can be made public.
He said these things in his chief guest address during the presentation of ‘Ekushey Padak-2024’ to eminent persons in recognition of outstanding contributions in various fields of national life on the occasion of Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day on Tuesday (February 20) morning.
Sheikh Hasina said, we work for the development of the society. Here we are trying to honor those who have made outstanding contributions in various fields as far as possible. We are blessed to award those who have contributed in various fields including language, literature, art, and my heartiest congratulations to them.
Ziaul Haque is doing many other service works with the money of curd sale. He regularly donates to social, cultural and religious institutions including giving free books to school and college students.
The Prime Minister said, “I am happy to award Ziaul Haque because if we look for such geniuses in the whole country, we will find them.” Maybe because of poverty, or because of some social reason, they didn’t get the chance to develop their talent. But they have given something to the society, they have given to the people, that is the most important thing. They worked devotedly for the welfare of people. Maybe with the money he earned he could have lived better, built a life. But without looking at his own development or enjoyment, he wanted to spread the light of knowledge to those who could not study.
