Cyber ​​extortion top concern for 37% companies

New Delhi: Nearly 37 per cent of Indian organizations have cited cyber extortion as a top concern, compared to 24 per cent globally, a new report said on Friday. According to cybersecurity company Splunk, about 25 percent of Indian companies also cited attacks on cloud-based infrastructure as a top concern. Dheeraj Goklani said, “As businesses in India face a complex cyber threat landscape that is evolving with advancements in AI, Splunk’s latest security posture report shows that there is a growing need when it comes to setting generic AI policies. The report surveyed 1,650 security leaders between December 2023 and January 2024. The respondents were in Australia, France, Germany, India, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, the UK and the US. Additionally, the report noted that India has the highest percentage (66 percent) of organizations that rated their security programs as “highly advanced,” compared to 47 percent globally. The rate of increase in collaboration across their internal teams is also high – 58 percent with software engineering, 52 percent with engineering operations and 78 percent with IT. According to the report, Indian companies were also particularly focused on cloud security, with 48 percent citing it as a top initiative compared to 35 percent globally.
