Beijing. The Colombo Port City Viaduct project constructed by a Chinese enterprise in Sri Lanka has recently entered the final construction phase. Manufacturers from China and Sri Lanka have worked hand in hand for more than four years and jointly created friendship between the youth of both the countries. The project officially started in September 2019. The total length of this bridge, connecting Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport and Colombo Port City, is 5.27 kilometers. Once completed, it will provide great convenience to transportation in Colombo and Sri Lanka. At the same time, the port is also very important for improving logistics and promoting regional trade.
Sri Lankan manager of the project Harshana told CMG correspondent that this viaduct project is very important for Sri Lanka. Colombo is an important port of Sri Lanka and the construction of a viaduct here is very beneficial for the trade of Sri Lanka. Singhe, a youth worker, said that working on this project has benefited him a lot. He has lived here with his Chinese colleagues for two years. Chinese people are very nice. His salary is also quite good, and it can help solve many of his family’s difficulties. Chief Engineer of the project Chhi Shyangyu said that through this project, about one to two thousand people have got employment opportunities in Sri Lanka, and the family income of these local people has improved significantly. He is also very happy and pleased about this that his life is gradually becoming prosperous. It is also a social responsibility of Chinese-funded enterprises operating here.
