On January 23, Vice Chairman of the Russian National Security Council Dmitry Medvedev reacted strongly to Ukrainian President Volodymyr. Zelensky signed a decree declaring the historical sovereignty of 6 Russian provincesincludes Krasnodar, Rostov, Voronezh, Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk (in the southwestern region of Russia), according to the station. RT.

Specifically, on January 22, Mr. Zelensky signed a decree declaring the above six localities “historic territories of the Ukrainian people” because Ukrainian people once lived and owned these localities.

According to the news agency Ukrinform, Mr. Zelensky’s decree includes (1) a plan to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Ukrainian people in the above territories; (2) publicly announce to the world that the above 6 provinces are the historical territory of Ukraine; (3) ensure that Ukrainians in the above regions have access to Ukrainian language and culture.

Theo RTMr. Medvedev rejected Mr. Zelensky’s above decree, saying it was Kiev’s attempt to move the world’s attention away from the front line – where Ukrainian troops were suffering many losses.

Mr. Medvedev also emphasized that he does not care about the content of the decree, because the above territories belong to Russia’s sovereignty and Kiev has absolutely no rights over these territories.
