Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh discussed with Egyptian and Qatari officials on the issue of ceasefire in Gaza. He had a phone conversation with them on Thursday (May 2) regarding the cease-fire in Gaza. British news agency Reuters reported this news.

The Palestinian Islamic group Hamas said in a statement that they had talks with the Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani. A delegation is going to Egypt to discuss the issue of ceasefire in Gaza.

The statement added that Haniyeh assured the Hamas group in a telephone conversation with Kamel that the ceasefire proposal was positive.

Hamas said on Saturday that it was aware of the current situation in Israel. This will be discussed before giving our position on that matter.

Egypt’s Al-Cahra News, citing an unnamed high-level source, said a delegation of Hamas would arrive in Cairo within the next two days.

Meanwhile, a Palestinian official close to the agreement also said that a Hamas representative will visit Egypt in the next two days.

The talks in Cairo are aimed at reaching a mature agreement, the statement said. which will achieve the demands of the Palestinian people and stop the Israeli aggression.

Another Hamas statement said Haniyeh and the Qatari prime minister agreed to negotiate a mature agreement mediated by Qatar and Egypt.

Egypt recently resumed stalled talks between Israel and Hamas to agree to a cease-fire in Gaza.
