At least 20 people, including three women, were killed when a passenger bus fell into a ditch in Pakistan. At least 21 others were injured. The condition of many of the injured is said to be critical.
The accident took place on the Karakoram Highway in Gilgit-Baltistan at around 5:30 am on Friday (May 3). News media don’t।
“The bus was on its way from Rawalpindi to Gilgit when it came to the highway in Diamar district and the driver lost control and the bus overturned and fell into the ditch,” said Shaukat Riaz, district rescue officer of Diamar.
Diamar Deputy Commissioner Fayyaz Ahmed said that after receiving information about the accident, the rescue team went to the spot. Later, the army helicopter took part in the rescue operation. Two of the injured have been taken to Gilgit city in critical condition.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed grief over the accident and expressed condolences to the bereaved family in a statement, saying that all necessary treatment has been ordered for the injured.
