The crowds in America’s steel city went wild again. “Jágrmánie” allowed after honoring the hockey player with number 68. But Jaromir’s jersey will remain under the arena ceiling forever. What about other valuables?

Jaromír Jágr (52) called Pittsburgh his second home during the festive weekend. Brick building at the end of a street in a quiet neighborhood of Upper St. Clair, which the rising star from Kladno bought in 1994 for 300,000 dollars (about 7 million CZK at today’s exchange rate), could one day be a Czech hockey hall of fame.

Fighters weaned from the Vltava gathered in Jágr’s house. The owner let the Strakovs, whose daughter Agáta was born here, and from autumn 2007 also Petr Sýkoru (47) live here.

“One time I noticed there were five miniature Art Ross trophies (for the NHL’s most productive player) sitting over the fireplace, so I called the Jags to see if I should send them to him,” the former Czech forward recalls for The Athletic. “He laughed and said, I won them in Pittsburgh, and they live there. But you can tell people you won them over.” grinned Sýkora, who won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins in the 2008/09 season.

Platinum staff

The existence of the valuable collection, which is said to be gathering dust in the garage at the moment, was also confirmed by Rick Nemec, whose family helped Jágr at the beginning of his career: “There’s also a platinum stick for his 400th goal, lots of stuff. A few years ago, I took a picture of my son there with all those cups and sent it to Jaromír. He was rolling with laughter.’

Last year, on vacation, instead of a private collection of butterflies, Jagr lured his love Dominik (29) to the barrack where he hides the finished treasures. Did you take anything home now? Or will the trophies of the legendary »68« remain in Pittsburgh forever?
