In Cox’s Bazar, cousin killed her younger brother for rejecting love proposal. A young man named Tarek Aziz (26). RAB arrested him six days after the murder.
Arrested Tarek Aziz is the son of Mohammad Aziz of Jumchari area of PMkhali Union of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila. The deceased Md. Abid (5) of the same area. son of Isaac Tareq and Abid are cousins. Company Commander Anwar Hossain Shamim gave this information in a press briefing at Cox’s Bazar office of RAB-15 on Thursday (08 February).
Narrating the incident, Anwar Hossain Shamim said, “Jumchari area Md. Ishaq’s younger son Abid could not be found since 3:30 pm on February 1 last. The family searched in various places. At around 11:00 pm, an unknown number called the child’s mother’s mobile number and said, “Your son has been kidnapped, and you have to pay a ransom of three lakh rupees to save him.” If not, I will kill your son. The family stayed at home all night without any means. The next day around 11 o’clock, the relatives came to know from the locals that the body of a child was floating in the pond near the old brick kiln of Ward No. 4 of PMkhali Union. Relatives went to the spot and identified the body. They were mentally disturbed. A shadow of grief descends on the family. Besides, the incident of abducting and killing the child caused anger in the area. Last Wednesday night, the child’s father filed a murder case at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station. After the case, a team of RAB-15 launched an operation to nab the kidnapping ring. The mastermind of the incident, Tarek Aziz, was arrested from Jumchari area on Wednesday night with the help of information technology to track the mobile number from which the child’s mother was called and demanded the ransom. At this time, the autorickshaw and mobile phone used in the kidnapping were seized.
Anwar Hossain Shamim mentioned that the mystery of the incident was revealed within 24 hours and the only accused was arrested by RAB. After the arrest, Tarek Aziz told RAB that he is an auto-rickshaw driver. Abid’s sister had been proposing love for a long time. But repeatedly refused. Enraged by this, he planned to kill the child. For the past few days, he developed a good relationship with her by giving her chocolates, pickles and other foods. On February 1 around 3:30 pm, Abid was playing sports near the house. At that time, he took an auto-rickshaw to Bankkhali river in Jumchari area after talking about giving chocolates. Played with him there till evening. After evening, the child was tied to a tree near the old brickyard of Ward No. 4 and came home. To avoid suspicion, he also started searching with the people of the house. When everyone returned home without getting anywhere, the pond overflowed at night. He called the child’s mother from the pond and said, ‘I have kidnapped your son, I will kill him if you do not pay the ransom of three lakh taka. Saying this cut the phone. But without getting the ransom money, he drowned the child in water and left it in the pond that night.’
