Rangamati

Rains lashed hill district Rangamati after intense heat wave. Three people were killed when lightning struck. This incident of lightning occurred in Sylhet Para and Baghaichhari of Rangamati city. Seven people were injured.

The deceased are the residents of Rangamati town Sileti district. Nazeer (50), Baharjan Begum (55), a resident of Rupkari Union Muslim Block of Baghaichhari Upazila and Tanibala Tripura (37) of Longthian Para of Sajek.

Rupkari Union Parishad Chairman Jasmin Chakma said that Baharjan Begum, wife of Lal Mia of Muslim block village of ward number 7 of the union, was killed by lightning while fetching cows.

Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shirin Akhtar confirmed that two women were killed and seven injured.

On the other hand, Rangamati General Hospital resident chief Dr. Shaukat Akbar said that one person was brought to the hospital from Sylhet neighborhood of the city in the morning. He was killed by lightning.

Comilla

Two farmers died in Comilla due to lightning. This incident of lightning occurred in Debidwar and Burichong upazilas on Thursday (May 2) afternoon.

The deceased are Mokhlesur Rahman (57), son of deceased Sona Mia of Dhamti village of Dhamti union of Debidwar upazila and Md. of Panchora Noapara village of Rajapur union of Burichong upazila. Alam Hossain son of Quddus Mia.

Locals said that Mokhlesur Rahman went to fetch the paddy straw left to dry near the house after seeing the cloudy sky around 5 pm. He was seriously injured by a sudden lightning strike. Relatives rescued him and quickly took him to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Confirming the truth of the incident, Debidwar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nigar Sultana told Jago News that Tk 20,000 cash has been given by the upazila administration for the burial of the deceased.

Burichong UNO Sahida Akhter said that a farmer named Alam Hossain died due to lightning while harvesting paddy in the field in the afternoon.

Cox’s Bazar

In Cox’s Bazar’s Pekua, two salt workers including a teenager died due to lightning. This incident of lightning occurred in the salt field of Magnama and Rajakhali Union area of ​​the upazila on Thursday morning.

The deceased were Didarul Islam (30) son of Zamir Uddin of Kolailladia area of ​​Magnama Union and Arafat Hossain (14) son of Jamal Hossain of Charipara area of ​​Rajakhali Union of Upazila.

Zaker Hossain, the uncle of deceased Didar, said that around 4 o’clock in the morning, when the sky was cloudy, I went to the field with my nephew Didar to collect salt. Didarul Islam died on the spot when lightning struck with rain.

At the same time, teenager Farhad Hossain was killed by lightning while going to the field with his father to collect salt. Local UP member Nurul Abshar Badu said that he was rescued from the field and brought home.

A farmer died in Sylhet while harvesting paddy in Hawar due to lightning. The incident took place in Dighirpar East Union of Kanighat Upazila at noon.

The name of the deceased farmer is Babul Ahmad (48). He is the son of deceased Abdus Salam of Mati village in Dakshin Kuor of the upazila.

Relatives said that Babul Ahmad went to cut paddy in a local haor boro. He was accompanied by his nephew Fahim and a young man named Pradeep. When a heavy storm started, they were injured by lightning. Locals immediately rescued them and took them to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor declared Babul Ahmad dead. The two injured have been admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Kanighat police station OC Jahangir Hossain confirmed the truth of the incident.
