MAD Solutions is participating with two Palestinian films that it distributed at the Al-Ard Film Festival in Cagliari on the Italian island of Sardinia, which is being held from February 21 to 25. They are the film Hamza: I’m Chasing a Ghost That’s Haunting Me by director Ward Kayyal and the film Mar Mama by director Majdi Al-Omari. Both of them are participating in the short competition.
The Land Festival was launched for the first time in 2002, and was founded by the Sardinia-Palestine Friendship Association. It is a unique cultural event that aims to shed light on the issues facing Palestine and the Arab world. Through the medium of cinema, the festival provides a platform for people to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the cultures, struggles and lives of those living in these regions. Over the years, the festival has become one of the most famous European film festivals in Palestine and the Arab world.
Hamza: I’m Chasing a Ghost That Haunts Me will be shown on Friday, February 23, at 3:10 pm, and Mar Mama will be shown at 3:30 pm.

*Hamza: I’m Chasing a Ghost That’s Chasing Me is the first film by director Ward Kayyal and the screenplay was written by Majd Kayyal. It stars Kamel Al-Basha and Moataz Malhis. The film’s events revolve around Hamza, who gathers his strength after recovering from his illness and resumes a habit he has practiced for many years, roaming the forest to chase a wild lion whose existence the village people do not believe exists. In his battle to hunt the lion, Hamza faces the memory of loss and torture, and struggles to reach his safe home.
It had its world premiere at the Cairo International Film Festival, competed at the Malmö Arab Film Festival, was screened at the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market, and the Reel Palestine Festival in the Emirates. It won the Best Director Award at the Rotterdam Arab Film Festival, and the Jury Prize for Best Arab Short Film, shared equally. With the film Trino at the Amman International Film Festival.

*Mar Mama is written, produced and directed by Magdy Al-Omari, produced by Marsam 301 and Phoenix Films, starring Ziad Bakri and Lana Abu Srour, photographed by Ashraf Dawani, music by Souad Bouchnak, and edited by Magdy Al-Omari. The events of the film revolve around a girl who is haunted by the specter of death due to the loss of her mother and the successive attacks on her. Her city, her father tries to distract her through various tricks until reality imposes itself on them, and she finds only imagination as an escape.
The film had its world premiere at the 11th Indy Cork Film Festival.
