On March 1, neighboring Iran is holding parliamentary elections. Its preliminary result will be clear after three days. However, the election of the parliament is of significant importance, as evidenced by the call made by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei before the vote. He called on Iranians to actively participate in the elections, to show that the Iranian people show themselves at important moments.

“Then we will save the country”, declared the Supreme Leader. When he considers the issue of citizens’ participation in the election of the parliament in the context of the salvation of the country, it means that the process is considered truly fortunate. According to forecasts, the wing of Iranian conservatives will retain the position of the ruling majority. However, according to everything, the attitude of the public is very important and the Supreme Leader actually points to that. Miller, the spokesperson of the United States Department of State, announced during the briefing that in case of deepening of military-technical cooperation between Iran and Russia, they will act quickly and very hard.
And that cooperation has a tendency to deepen, the parties are preparing to sign a big strategic agreement, and yesterday a meeting of the economic cooperation committee with Russia took place in Iran, within the framework of which nearly two dozen agreements were signed with the participation of Iran’s oil minister and Russia’s energy minister, Deputy Prime Minister Novak. Of course, they referred to economic issues, but there is no doubt that the pace of economic and military-technical cooperation is coordinated, which follows from the logic of current international realities.
It is not excluded that after the election of the Iranian Parliament, there will be the statements about a new level of Russian-Iranian cooperation, about which the spokesperson of the US State Department expresses himself in the footnote of his statement. The Supreme Leader of Iran’s call to Iranians to vote actively, to participate, not to boycott the vote, apparently contains the footnote that Tehran views the parliamentary election as a kind of referendum on new statements that have the value of “saving the country”.
If we turn that circumstance into a so-called military-political category, then perhaps the nuclear status can be a factor of “salvation” for Iran at the historical crossroads of the collapse of the world order and the formation of a new one. Is the parliamentary election considered by Tehran as the starting point of the final stage leading to the declaration of that status?
