The party expressed its deepest condolences to the family of Gómez Morales for the loss of their son’s life, and asked the authorities “to do the most that corresponds to them and allow us to carry out an electoral process where he will be granted guarantees to all candidates from all parties to be able to participate and to carry out a peaceful election day.”
“We very much regret and condemn the events that occurred today (Friday) in the municipality of Benemérito de las Américas, where our candidate Juan Gómez Morales suffered an attack,” said the local Chiapas Unidos party in a brief statement published on its social networks.
