Various authorities from around the world have spoken out to condemn the terrorist attacks that occurred this Wednesday in the Iranian city of Kerman (south-east), which caused the death of 84 people and injured over 280.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi condemned the two-bomb attack, which occurred during the tribute to General Qasem Soleimani, who was assassinated by the United States (US) in 2020, and said that the perpetrators “of this cowardly act will soon be identified and punished by the his hateful act by the competent security and public order forces.

In a statement, Raisi clarified that “the nation’s enemies must know that such actions can never disturb the solid resolve of the Iranian nation.”

For their part, the presidents of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, condemned the attack and expressed their condolences to the people of the Central Asian country.

“The murder of civilians who frequented the cemetery is shocking in its cruelty and cynicism,” said Putin, who condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, while the Turkish president called the attack atrocious.

Chinese President Xi Jinping sent his condolences to President Raisi and expressed in his message that he was deeply shocked to learn of the attacks.

Additionally, the Foreign Ministry issued a message stating that “China is against terrorism in all its forms and firmly supports Iran in protecting its national security and stability.”

The Government of Nicaragua showed its dismay and, through a statement signed by President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo, condemned “this new expression of terrorism which makes no contribution to the urgent solutions needed by the human community”.

At the same time, he expressed solidarity with the families of the victims, the people and the Iranian authorities, paying his respects to Soleimani on the fourth anniversary of his martyrdom.

In addition to condemning the incident and expressing solidarity with the victims, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry hoped for the recovery of the injured and urged those responsible for these events to be legally punished.

“The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, consistently with the Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy, firmly rejects terrorism in all its manifestations and deplores any act of violence that intends to cause terror and anxiety in the civilian population and reaffirms its total attachment to life and physical integrity of the people”, we read in the text.

Likewise, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez condemned the attack and expressed his solidarity with the Iranian people and government.

Bolivia’s head of state, Luis Arce, joined the messages condemning the event which caused more than 100 deaths.

“We extend our solidarity to the people and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and our condolences to the families of the fatal victims,” he said.

The government of Mexico, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, rejected “the use of violence in any circumstances” and expressed “its solidarity with the victims and their families”.

In turn, the Brazilian government published a statement condemning the recorded attacks, repudiating any terrorist act.

“In expressing its condolences to the families of the victims and its solidarity with the people and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Brazil reiterates its firmest repudiation of any act of terrorism.”

The Colombian government, in a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed its solidarity with the Iranian authorities and people, as well as with the families of the victims. Furthermore, he hoped for a speedy recovery of the wounded.

For his part, the President of Syria, Bashar al Assad, sent a message of solidarity to the Iranian people and government, in particular to the families of the victims.

“President Al Assad expressed his sorrow and that of the Syrian people for the victims of these two heinous terrorist attacks, and his sincere condolences and solidarity with the leaders and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and in particular with the families of victims, hoping that Almighty God will cover them with his immense mercy and grant the injured a speedy recovery”, reads a note from the Syrian Ministry of Information.

The Norwegian Foreign Ministry, through its X account, strongly condemned the attack in the Iranian city of Kerman.

“Norway strongly condemns today’s attack in the Iranian city of Kerman, which reportedly killed nearly 100 people and injured many more. Those responsible must be held accountable. Our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and to the Iranian people,” he said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, in a statement, condemned the terrorist attacks in Kerman and expressed its condolences to the Iranian people and government.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia rejected and condemned the terrorist attacks, in a statement published on its X account.

Two Palestinian organizations – Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) – joined in the condemnation. Jihad said that this “aggression against the innocent will increase the solidarity of the people of our nation around the resistance, of which the martyr Soleimani will continue to be one of its symbols.”

The PFLP described the attacks as “heinous crimes with Zionist overtones”. He assured that Israel wants to drag the region into chaos and, to escape its own crisis, commits attacks that do not intimidate the resistance.

Through its spokesperson, the European External Action Service reported that “The EU (European Union) expresses its solidarity with the Iranian people. This act of terror has caused a horrific number of deaths and injuries among civilians (. ..) those responsible must be held accountable. The German Chancellery also condemned the incident, stating that “the Iranian people deserve a future in peace and security”.

In turn, Spanish MEP Manu Pineda drew attention to the fact that this criminal act was committed after Israel murdered seven members of the Palestinian resistance in Beirut, including the deputy head of the Hamas Political Bureau, Saleh al-Arouri.
