President, Javier Miley, uploaded another post in a biblical tone in Hebrew. That message raised a question, in the hours before his speech, could it be a preview of some announcement he will make in Congress? Several leaders asked themselves.
Today Milei posted on her social networks a biblical passage – Exodus 34:1-25 – in Hebrew, included in the Old Testament. The Spanish translation would be:
“And God said to Moses: smooth two tables of stone like the first ones, and I will write on those tables the words that were on the first tables that you broke,” is the quote made by the head of state on his X (Twitter) account. .
The quote refers to the 10 commandments. To understand it, you have to read another fragment of the Old Testament, Exodus 32:15-19. God had given the original tables to Moses, who upon descending from Mount Sinai saw the people worshiping the golden calf, threw the tables to the ground and broke them. The golden calf was a cult image in Israel, a symbol of a God that could be seen.
Another background of biblical messages
It is not the first time that Milei alludes to the Old Testament. On February 8 he had made another post in Hebrew with a biblical fragment during which Moses punishes those who defied him.
That time, the message was interpreted in a political key after the stop in Congress of the Omnibus Law and the tension unleashed between the Casa Rosada and the so-called “traitors”, legislators who had promised to vote in favor and finally did not do so.
In the Casa Rosada they commented that Milei will make a political interpretation of Exodus 32.15-19 during his speech before the Legislative Assembly. That interpretation consists of insisting on the basic concepts of the Omnibus Law as Moses did with the 10 Commandments when he returned to Mount Sinai to write The Tables for the second time.
