Expect more than 4 billion USD in shrimp exports in 2024

Mr. Phung Duc Tien said that 2023 will be very difficult, the export of agricultural products in general and the shrimp industry in particular will decline (about 21%).

Entering 2024, by the end of January, we exported 5.14 billion USD of agricultural products, an increase of 79.2%, of which shrimp increased by nearly 65%. This is a positive sign for this year.

“With an area of ​​about 740,000 hectares of shrimp farming and an output of more than 1.12 million tons, we hope to have increased output and higher export value,” Deputy Minister Tien expected.

According to statistics from the Department of Fisheries, in 2023, shrimp export turnover will reach 3.45 billion USD and is expected to reach 4-4.3 billion USD in 2024.

“It is forecast that the global brackish water shrimp supply will continue to increase by about 4.8% in 2024. This is a challenge but also an opportunity for the Vietnamese shrimp industry, we need to take advantage and have appropriate solutions,” Department of Fisheries information.
