Saudi Arabia announced a significant increase in proven reserves of gas and condensate in one of its largest gas fields.

Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said that Aramco was able to add large quantities to the proven reserves of gas and condensates in the unconventional Jafoura field.

According to the Saudi News Agency, SPA, the Saudi prince explained that the additional confirmed quantities amounted to 15 trillion standard cubic feet of gas.

He pointed out that this achievement was achieved as a result of applying the highest international standards in estimating and developing hydrocarbon resources to ensure their proper exploitation.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said that the reserves in the Jafoura field are estimated at about 229 trillion standard cubic feet of gas and 75 billion barrels of condensate.

It is noteworthy that the “Al-Jafoura” field is the largest unconventional gas field discovered in Saudi Arabia, as it is 170 km long and 100 km wide. The volume of gas resources in its reservoir is estimated at about 200 trillion cubic feet of gas, and the field’s production achieves an estimated 20 billion Dollars, “75 billion riyals annually,” according to old data reported by Saudi media.

Last November 2023, the Saudi Minister of Energy announced new discoveries of natural gas in the Eastern Province and the Empty Quarter, through the giant oil company Aramco.
