Lieu Uy could not find a common language with his classmates and older people. Besides, the more flexible and free teaching methods in the university environment also made it difficult for Lieu Uy to adapt. The academic achievements he was always most proud of no longer stood out in class.

His poor academic performance hurt Lieu Uy’s self-esteem. Male students not only enter and exit the classroom arbitrarily, disrupting order in the classroom while the teacher is lecturing, but also often ask the teacher some unusual questions to attract everyone’s attention.

Along with new and interesting things in big cities, Lieu Uy gradually goes off track. Bored in real life, Lieu Uy is immersed in the virtual world. He is even a regular customer of the game shop near the school.

A game shop employee recounted that the first time he met Lieu Uy, he did not allow him to enter the shop because he was not of the required age. The game shop manager saw this and immediately came forward and said to Lieu Uy: “Old place. Come in.”

The manager also said: “Don’t worry, it’s a regular customer. That’s a college student. Don’t you watch the news? That’s a prodigy.”

Under the suspicious eyes of the staff, Lieu Uy turned on the computer and played the game fluently. Bored with playing games, he read comics online. Until morning, Lieu Uy returned to school with tired steps.

Frequently staying up late to play games caused Lieu Uy’s daily schedule to be disrupted, and his academic performance became increasingly poor. At the end of his first year of college, this prodigy owed 14/16 subjects.

Lieu Uy’s poor attitude and academic performance also disappointed the sponsoring group. After careful consideration, the group decided to cancel all financial support for Lieu Uy’s education.

Timely awakening

From an outstanding person, Lieu Uy suddenly became an unruly young man and was at risk of being forced to drop out of school. Experiencing the consequences and warnings from her mother, Lieu Uy promptly woke up.

He went to see the school principal to explain to him the difficulties he encountered during his studies, his frustrations and loss of self.

In his heart, the principal still loves this student very much. Faced with Lieu Uy’s sincere apologies, he decided to stand surety before the council to ask for a chance to start over.

At this point, Lieu Uy’s life got back on track. In 2011, under the school’s arrangement, Lieu Uy was transferred from the Department of Mathematics – Physics to the Department of Electronic Information Engineering, the field he was more interested in, and started studying again from the first year.

Lieu Uy greatly appreciates this rare opportunity. Every day he studies hard and tries his best to make up for the time he missed before.

Because he had to repeat the course with a new course, Lieu Uy noticed that the age gap between him and his classmates had narrowed. Thanks to that, he gradually met good friends with similar interests.

In 2015, Lieu Uy graduated from university and continued to stay at school to study for a master’s and doctoral degree. After all, Lieu Uy said that he is not a prodigy but just an ordinary person who always needs to make efforts and work hard.
