Neurology specialist Prof. Dr. Meliha Tandan said that there is no definitive treatment as the cause is still unknown. He informed about the migraine shot, which is one of the treatments:
“This tool is the most effective way to prevent migraine attacks in recent years. Although the problem of migraine is very common in the society, patients often do not benefit sufficiently from treatments. “Some patients cannot use many drugs because of side effects.”
Various drugs (heart pressure, depression, epilepsy drugs, etc.) have been used in migraine treatment for many years. In 2018, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released a migraine preventive injection. These injections, which are allowed to be used in treatment, have emerged as one of the most effective methods of preventing migraine attacks in recent years. Although the injections in question are defined as “vaccines” because they contain antibodies, they are not similar to vaccines in the classical sense and must be administered monthly.
