An experience that (not only he) will not forget until the end of his life. These exact words describe the ceremonial retirement of the legendary number 68 in the organization of the Pittsburgh Penguins, which Jaromír Jágr (52) wore here for many years. The legendary hockey player gave an emotional speech during the ceremony, in which he also mentioned his former teammates and people without whom he would never be where he is now. But he forgot a few of them, which he corrected on the social network. And he even received a touching message!

The list of former teammates who personally attended Jágro’s gala evening was very varied. More than 30 former teammates, coaches and members of the Pittsburgh legend’s executive team arrived. Namely, among them were such giants as Mario Lemieux, Ron Francis or Jard’s compatriot Jiří Hrdina. They were all present as the famous 68 rose to the ceiling of the PPG Paints Arena. In his speech, Jágr then mentioned most of the people with whom he spent his wonderful years in the Penguins jersey. But he omitted three of them.

And now the Kladno icon has fixed that. On the social network, Jágr published a post in which he thanked then-assistant coach Rick Kehoe and ex-teammates Jan Hrdin and Kip Miller. “During that stressful day, I unfortunately forgot to thank three important people who have played a large part in my time in Pittsburgh. I would like to apologize and thank them in addition,” wrote the two-time Stanley Cup winner and continued.

“To Ricky Kehoe, who taught me how to shoot when I came to America. Two of my teammates, Jan Hrdina and Kip Miller, also deserve thanks. They played with me in the same formation when I became the NHL’s most productive player three times in a row.” Jágr finished his text. And it was the daughter of the second-named accomplice from the attack who answered Jágr.

“My dad Kip loved playing with you in Pittsburgh. He always says his time in Pittsburgh is one of his favorites.” Bella Miller wrote under the post. “He misses you, but at the same time he is happy for you. Go Pens!” the daughter of former striker Kip Miller concluded in a touching message. This is also one of the many proofs that Jagr is paying for a true legend in Pittsburgh.
