A grenade left at the entrance to the José de Escandón High School led to the evacuation of 159 students and the securing of 10 meters around the central area of Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
Osiel Wences Terán, director of the high school, reported that fortunately the administration employees detected the explosive device so they immediately reported these events.
“It’s a grenade, it’s at the main entrance, the students were evacuated, they were asked to go home, the parents were informed that we had an outbreak of violence and that classes were suspended.”
He indicated that notification was given to the Secretariat of National Defense who, in turn, requested support from their explosives specialists.
“We are dismayed by this situation caused by unscrupulous hands, the position of the school management is that investigations be carried out no matter where they are because it is a threat, violence within an educational institution that we cannot ignore,” said the director.
Wences Terán assured that once the results are received from the authority, classes will resume.
For his part, Juan José Carcaño, emergency director of Reynosa Civil Protection, commented that the arrival of explosives specialists is expected who will determine if it is an active or elaborate grenade.
