He said that the parliamentary elections in our country will take place in the next few months.
It should be noted that the parliamentary elections were held in February 2020 and the next election should be held in February 2025. However, according to Azerbaijani legislation, parliamentary elections should be held on Wednesday of the first week of November. This means that the elections to the Milli Majlis will be delayed. According to the law, elections can be postponed, but they cannot be held late.
Holding elections in November 2024 seems impossible. Because this year, from November 11 to 24, a large-scale event – COP29 will take place in our country, and at least 80,000 guests are expected to come to Azerbaijan. At such a moment, the holding of parliamentary elections can create additional problems.
Therefore, many lawyers claim that the parliamentary elections will be held in the summer months.
