To work with the quality of health care, the doctors have to think about the facilities, said the health minister. Samant Lal Sen.
He said this after the inauguration of ‘PHA Global Summit-2024’ at Dhaka United Convention Center on Friday (23 February) evening.
Health Minister said, we have started working on decentralization of health care. Health care is not only city-centric, but its scope should be extended to the village level. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also wants that.
Initiatives like the Medical Trainee Exchange Program will not only encourage intercultural learning but also enrich our collective experience in healthcare, he added. Such activities are truly inspiring to improve healthcare in the country and abroad.
In the president’s speech, Planetary Health Academy (PHA) chairperson Dr. Tasbirul Islam said, there is a considerable weakness in our medical education. Our medical education is 4-5 years behind compared to developed countries. Due to this, the admission of foreign students has recently decreased abnormally. We are trying to develop the curriculum in collaboration with the Department of Health Education. Hope to reach a desired goal within 4-5 years.
The presidents of Royal College of Physicians London, Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh, Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, International Diabetes Federation, World Heart Federation, American College of Cardiology were present in the conference.
