The park was closed on October 31 due to the discovery of a Covid positive person who had visited it, which left the nearly 19,000 people who were then inside trapped for hours, who were unable to leave until they underwent a PCR test and obtained a negative result.
After its reopening last Thursday, all visitors had to show a negative PCR test certificate from the last 48 hours, pass a body temperature test, show their health QR code in a mobile application, scan the QR codes of which the authorities They are used to determine who has visited a place and wear a mask at all times.
After the local government banned people arriving from other parts of the country from entering public places for five days, Disneyland clarified that they could visit the park and ride the attractions, but they could not eat in the restaurants or access the stores. .
Disneyland Shanghai was already closed for more than three months – between the end of March and the end of June – within the framework of the strict confinement dictated by the authorities in the face of the worst Covid outbreak since the start of the pandemic, caused by the contagious omicron variant.
Although the numbers of new infections in the city remain far below those experienced in spring and those now recorded in other parts of the country, at the national level they broke their record this week and remain close to 40,000, an intolerable rate for the Chinese authorities, entrenched in their ‘zero Covid’ strategy.
