Calling for a sponsor boycott is scandalous
Vienna (OTS) – “What do koglers allow? Even as sports minister, he is like an empty bottle,” said the sports spokesman for the Vienna FPÖ LAbg. Toni Mahdalik, who called on the green sports minister and vice-chancellor Werner Kogler to immediately stop his “woke bashing” against Rapid. “Kogler’s call to sponsors to boycott individual clubs is a scandal of a special kind. Apparently Kogler wants to ruin the most popular domestic sport on a professional basis. This madness must be stopped immediately,” said Mahdalik, who points out that the majority of Rapid employees and officials are close to the SPÖ.
Mahdalik continued: “It is unacceptable for a sports minister to condemn a club and its fans across the board for party political reasons. For decades there have been countless battle chants as part of fan culture that you don’t have to like. The hyperventilation and woke hysteria of the left is grossly exaggerated. In any case, Kogler shouldn’t be surprised if he is whistled out of the stadium even more loudly than before. Finished.”
