El Salvador executes strategies to support and promote the tourism sector in the east of the country

The Government of El Salvador continues with the development of the National Meeting of the Tourism Ecosystem 2024, which is in charge of the Ministry of Tourism and the Salvadoran Tourism Corporation (Corsatur), in which entrepreneurs from the value chain of this tourism sector participate. the whole country.

This day, the event took place in the eastern part of the country. The first day this Thursday took place in the department of La Unión and the second in San Miguel. This meeting seeks to exchange ideas and learn first-hand about the experiences and opinions of companies in the tourism sector, as well as identify opportunities for improvement.

«We are growing at an accelerated pace, last year we were one of the four countries that grew the most, according to UN Tourism; the fourth in the world, with more than 40% of the growth of the tourism sector,” said the Minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez.

With these events, it is expected to attract more than 1,600 entrepreneurs, registered in the inventory of tourism companies in the country, this as part of the National Tourism Plan that promotes the insertion of all sectors involved in the National Tourism Registry (RNT).

Among the topics presented to the businessmen are: the positioning strategy of El Salvador as a tourist destination, the importance of excellence in visitor service and, also, the conversations: making the visitor fall in love with the smells and flavors and about themselves. Continuous improvement is useful in the tourism sector.

The executive director of Corsatur, Alejandra Durán, commented that last year, the country received 3.4 million visitors, exceeding the projection. “We have set a goal of receiving 3.8 million visitors this year, and $3.8 billion in foreign currency,” she added.

The Ministry of Tourism and Corsatur plan to hold a total of 15 meetings throughout the national territory, of which four have already ended. The days began last Tuesday in Sonsonate, yesterday two more were held in Ahuachapán and Santa Ana. This Friday they will continue in Morazán and Usuluán.
