A volunteer league leader was hacked to death in a clash between two sides over the boundary of a house in Tangail’s Nagarpur. Seven people from both sides were injured in this incident. They have been admitted to Upazila Health Complex.
The incident took place at Bhadra village of Bhadra union of the upazila on Thursday (May 2) afternoon.
Deceased Rajib Hossain (30) son of hero freedom fighter Alam Mia of Vadra village of upazila and senior vice president of Vadra Union Volunteer League.
Nagarpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) HM Jasim Uddin said that there was a long-standing dispute between Azahar and Rajib of Bhadra village over the land boundary. On Thursday morning, the two sides began to talk about the bales from a tree on the disputed land. At one point, the two sides clashed.
Later, Azahar and his family attacked the Volunteer League leader Rajiv with sharp weapons. When the family members tried to stop them, they were also hacked and injured. Later, when they were taken to Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex in Manikganj, the doctor declared Rajiv dead.
He also said that the murder case is being prepared in this incident. Investigation into the incident is ongoing. An operation is underway to arrest the accused.
