He added: “In other words, foreign investment in Chile, despite the fact that some said it was going to decrease due to the arrival of President Gabriel Boric to power, instead of not arriving, it arrived and generated the main increase in the last 20 years.” .
The minister also pointed out that “economic growth was said to be negative in 2023. Between -1.5 and 2% less of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and not only did that not happen, but we grew. The Imacec now spoke of 4.5 in February and the Central Bank’s projections speak of growth between 2 and 3%.”
He highlighted that “our Government’s projections are that in 2024 we were going to grow between 2% and 3% and everyone said that this was unreal, that we were living in a world that was not realistic, because Chile was going to grow between 1% and 3%. % and 2%. And what do we see now? Not only that we were right, but even the Central Bank says that the growth projections are what we were estimating.”
Camila Vallejo made reference to these data in the Mesa Central program on Channel 13, and in the context of questions about the progress of the economy that come from the private world and business associations.
“We have always had business groups, certain sectors, that put pessimism ahead of evidence and collaboration to continue moving forward,” the spokesperson emphasized.
And he insisted that “I would call for putting evidence more at the center than rhetoric, because it is installed as an ideology that because we are a left-wing government we are not for growth, we do not want a public-private alliance, but the evidence says the opposite. ”.
