The period of exemption from import customs duty of goods imported for the construction of international airports in Fuzuli, Lachin and Zangilan regions has been extended until 2025.

Publika.az informs that Prime Minister Ali Asadov “On amendments to Decision No. 91 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated April 22, 1998 on the rates of customs duties for export-import operations in the Republic of Azerbaijan” of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 18 of 2021 signed the Decision on amending Decision No. 174 dated June.

This concession was valid until January 1, 2024.

The decision enters into force 30 (thirty) days after its publication.

It should be noted that Fuzuli and Zangilan airports have been built and put into use in the territories liberated from occupation.

The foundation of Lachin International Airport, which was laid in 2021, is planned to be completed in 2025. The airport’s runway will be 3,000 meters long and 60 meters wide. The airport is being built near the village of Gorchu at an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level and will be one of the airports located in the highest mountainous area in the post-Soviet space.

The airport is located 30 kilometers from Lachin, 70 kilometers from Shusha, and 60 kilometers from Kalbajar. In addition to its strategic purpose, this airport will enable the development of the tourism potential of the region in the future.
