MEXICO CITY (apro).- The candidate for head of Government of the “Va por la CDMX” alliance, Santiago Taboada, said that if he wins the elections, from the first day of his government “he will leave” the agreement of the Ministry of Health (Sedesa) of the capital government with the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS)-Wellbeing and will review its savings accounts.

This Wednesday, in commemoration of International Labor Day, the PAN member met with hundreds of workers from different unions at the Gran Forum Taxqueña, and promised:

“I’m going to review the three workers’ savings banks (…) it is the first time in the history of the city that the Fonac (Capitalizable Savings Fund for Workers in the Service of the State) has been stolen from them,” they have matured “I’m telling you right away, we’re going to check the box, all three of them, we’re going to audit them.”

While the cleaning service workers waved their flags in support, Taboada explained that their savings generate interest: “Where is the interest on the workers’ savings?” And he promised: “We are not going to take a peso from Fonac because it is their right.”

At the beginning of his speech, the candidate denounced that the working class that supports him has been pressured, although he did not specify by whom. For this reason, he thanked the assistance of workers from the Metro Collective Transportation System (STC), Health, the Judiciary, the Heroic Fire Department (HCB), the Superior Audit of CDMX, the federal government, the capital’s Congress, among others.

In front of them, he recognized that he needs their massive vote and assured them that, if he reaches the head of Government, he will pass the first social security law in CDMX: “We are really going to work to create a complete social security system for workers.” “.

The former mayor in Benito Juárez addressed the Health workers when he said: “I am letting you know, on the first day I am going to leave the IMSS-Wellness agreement and the health workers are going to return to be part of this government.”

Then, the attendees began to chant: “Head of Government, head of Government!”

Last year, Sedesa began the merger of its hospitals, services and workers to the IMSS-Bienestar system that the federal government implemented throughout the country. After that, hundreds of workers held various demonstrations rejecting this measure.

Offer commitments

In the proselytizing event with the workers, the candidate Santiago Taboada assumed the following commitments:

  • Help those who have not been able to retire.
  • Basicization of Payroll workers 8.
  • Tools to work in a dignified manner.
  • Top-level clinics and hospitals for doctors and nurses.
  • Automatic union digit.
  • Housing program in CDMX for workers.
  • Specific program to give workers preference and access to sports and cultural spaces.

The support that the attendees gave to the candidate was reflected in the messages on the posters they held, in the way they waved PAN flags and in the cheers they shouted at him: “El güero is the good one!”, “Santiago , friend, the firefighters are with you!”, “El güero is my carnal!”.
