American endocrinologist, MD Rekha Kumar explained how to stay fit until old age.

Publika.az reports that the doctor told “Championat.com” about it. According to him, those who want to lose weight in middle and old age may experience difficulties. The expert noted that weight gain, especially abdominal fat, increases the risk of insulin resistance, diabetes and heart disease.

“Often, middle-aged and elderly people find it difficult to get rid of excess weight due to a decrease in the level of certain hormones. External factors can also lead to obesity. As people age, they engage in less physical activity, which, along with a decrease in muscle mass, reduces energy expenditure, and with weight gain results”, the expert noted.

To stay slim into old age, the endocrinologist recommended regular exercise, calorie control, and a Mediterranean diet rich in fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and nuts. Getting enough sleep regularly is also very important.
