At the end of 2023, the total volume of remittances from Russia to Georgia decreased by 26 percent compared to 2022 and amounted to 1.5 billion dollars.
Publika.az reports that TASS He published information referring to the statistical data of the analysts of the National Bank of Georgia.
Despite this, Russia remains the leader in terms of remittances to Georgia. According to this indicator, Italy took the second place, almost three times behind – a total of 518.6 million dollars were transferred from this country (plus 20.1 percent compared to the level of 2022). The USA completed the top three ($456.4 million, plus 39.5 percent).
In total, by the end of 2023, foreign citizens transferred more than 4.1 billion dollars to Georgia. According to the National Bank, this figure has decreased by 4.6 percent compared to the level of 2022.
At the beginning of October, the RBC publication wrote that Armenia has become a new center of attraction for remittances from Russia. Thus, at the end of August, a total of 32.8 billion rubles were transferred to this country from the Russian Federation. Compared to September 2022, this figure immediately increased by 467.9 percent, and compared to the level of October of the same year, the volume of transfers from Russia increased to a greater extent – by 560.4 percent.
