When she was 13 years old, Huong Dung hid from her parents when she took the acting exam and was accepted into the Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema, majoring in acting. But because her parents did not agree, Huong Dung had to sadly continue to stay home and go to school.

In 1975, Huong Dung joined the army, she became an information soldier at the Military School under Military Region 3. During her time in the army, Huong Dung actively participated in cultural movements and quickly became “a leader” star”.

After that, she took the exam and was accepted as an actress into the General Political Department and the Military Region 3 Literature Troupe, but for some reason she was “missed out”. Only later, when working a boring administrative job, did she return to art and become a talented artist dedicating herself to the audience.

Meritorious Artist Huong Dung also met her husband thanks to art. The veteran female artist and her husband have three children, Thuy Duong (1982), Ha Duy (1989) and Phuong Minh (1994). It is known that all three are considered child stars of Vietnamese screens as all three have been involved in filming since they were very young. However, after that, Meritorious Artist Huong Dung’s children did not follow their mother’s career.

Talking about her children not following their mother’s career, Meritorious Artist Huong Dung shared: “To say I don’t like it is not right. I like my children to follow my profession because they also have a tendency to do art. But being an actor in our country cannot support myself, it’s only enough to maintain a daily life. “If you sweat, you run out of money.”
