Two of the injured remain in critical condition in hospital, Governor Adam Rudawski said. The other injured are also in serious condition. According to the initial findings, the people who were hit would have wanted to cross the street at the zebra crossing when the car drove into them and then ended up against three parked cars.

The 33-year-old driver, a Pole, is said to have fled after being hit, but he was still arrested. According to police spokesman Pavel Pankau, there was certainly no terrorist motive. It is not yet clear what went wrong.
