TEL AVIV – Fears are increasing in Israel regarding the colonial country’s inclusion on the United Nations (UN) blacklist as one of the countries that harms children in conflict zones.

Israel’s apartheid regime is increasingly worried after a number of statements made by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres about the brutal attacks in the Gaza Strip, which killed nearly 34,600 people, most of whom were children and women, according to a report by public broadcaster KAN.

A report is scheduled to be released next month by the UN Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Virginia Gamba, on the situation of children in conflict zones, which will likely include Israel among the entities violating children’s rights.

According to KAN, Israeli officials are struggling behind the scenes to persuade the UN to correct what they call “many inaccuracies” in the draft report.

If added, Israel will be listed alongside terrorist groups such as the Islamic State (ISIS or Daesh), Al-Qaeda and Boko Haram.

Israel has launched a deadly offensive on Gaza, imposing a siege that has paralyzed Gaza’s population, especially residents of northern Gaza, and triggered mass starvation.

More than six months into Israel’s war, much of Gaza has been destroyed, pushing 85% of the enclave’s residents to flee amid crippling blockades of food, clean water and medicine, according to the UN.

Israel was accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) which, in January, issued an interim ruling ordering the country to stop genocidal acts and take action to ensure humanitarian aid is provided to civilians in Gaza.

What Israel did after that clearly continued to violate the ICJ decision. The Zionist colonial regime continued its genocide in Gaza after the UN court order.
