More than 120,000 people watched midnight fireworks displays in Amsterdam and Rotterdam to ring in the new year. More than 60,000 people were along the docks of Rotterdam and the same number were present in the capital’s Museumplein, the organizers report.
The national fireworks at Erasmus Bridge were musically accompanied by DJ Martin Garrix and broadcast live on SBS6. The fireworks display has been canceled for the past three years. Last year this was due to bad weather and this year the conditions were not ideal either. Several fireworks displays were also canceled due to strong winds.
The fireworks display on Museumplein was broadcast live on all RTL channels. Furthermore, a fireworks display was also held in Amsterdam Nieuw-West which was witnessed by 5,000 people.

The municipality of Maasdriel has issued an emergency order for the center of Hedel in Gelderland due to the riots that occurred on New Year’s Eve.
