In statements to Sky News Arabia, today, Monday, UNICEF media officer, Jonathan Krekes, expressed the organization’s fear that the distribution of humanitarian aid in Rafah would be affected, in light of the extension of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip to the city of Rafah, where there are hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, who… They were displaced from different parts of the Gaza Strip.

Jonathan Crix said, “We will continue our operations in Rafah despite the difficulties,” noting that the organization is closely monitoring the situation in Rafah.

The official added, in his statement to Sky News Arabia, that “it is difficult for residents to move to the central and northern Gaza Strip.”

UNICEF called for a “ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in order to reach those in need.”

The official stressed that the current situation “prevents us from assessing the humanitarian situation in the central and northern Gaza Strip.”

Earlier today, Monday, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom, called again for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Adhanom added, on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai, that the aid provided to the sector in terms of medical supplies is a drop in the ocean of needs that increase every day.

This comes at a time when the Palestinian News Agency, Wafa, announced that dozens were killed and wounded in a series of raids carried out by the Israeli army on the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian sources said that the Israeli army carried out 40 successive raids targeting inhabited homes in conjunction with intense artillery shelling and shelling from warships.

According to the sources, the city hospital is crowded with wounded people and that the situation is dangerous due to the lack of medicines and emergency supplies.

It considered that the attack on Rafah is a continuation of forced displacement attempts against Palestinians.
