The delegation of the Parliamentary Division of the Kingdom of Bahrain, headed by His Excellency Mr. Abdulnabi Salman, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, participated in the work of the “Meeting of the Steering Committee of the Parliamentary Conference of the World Trade Organization,” which was held this morning (Saturday) in the city of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the sisterly United Arab Emirates, jointly organized by the Union. The Parliamentary Division delegation, whose membership includes Their Excellencies Reda Abdullah Faraj and Bassam Ismail Al-Bin Mohammed, members of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the Shura Council, and His Excellency MP Abdullah Hassan Al-Dhaen, member of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, stressed the importance of participating in the committees concerned with drafting resolutions and final statements for parliamentary assemblies. And benefit from the distinguished relations that bind the Kingdom of Bahrain with the countries of the world to achieve common goals, and in a way that contributes to clarifying the Kingdom’s positions towards all regional and international issues.
The delegation of the Parliamentary Division, when participating in the discussion of the preliminary draft of the final document of the Parliamentary Conference of the World Trade Organization, indicated that the participation of parliaments in discussing issues related to the global trading system is an initiative that should be supported to emphasize fair trade rules, supervision of international agreements, and ways to settle disputes. Maintaining open trade, enhancing transparency and accountability in the global trading system, by promoting a multilateral trading system that serves everyone.
The delegation of the Parliamentary Division stated its continuous endeavor to coordinate with its brothers in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, to reach results that achieve common goals and aspirations, indicating that the hosting of this conference by the sister country of the United Arab Emirates demonstrates the interest of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in the role of the World Trade Organization and its continued endeavor to participate. In decision-making within it to ensure that the interests of all parties are taken into account.
