Chinese media reported that at about 5:30 a.m. on February 22 (local time), an empty container ship, on its journey from Foshan City to Guangzhou City, collided with pillars of the Lixinsha bridge, causing the bridge deck to break.

Guangzhou city’s maritime search and rescue center said that as of 10 a.m. on the same day, in the above accident, a total of 5 vehicles were damaged, of which 2 vehicles fell into the water. , 3 vehicles fell onto the ship. Currently, 2 people have been rescued, 2 people have died, and 3 people are missing.

After receiving the news, Chinese authorities dispatched 25 staff, along with search and rescue vehicles and tools to the scene to rescue and overcome the consequences of the accident.

Currently, the owner of the ship has been detained to investigate the cause of the incident. Rescue and relief work continues to be carried out.
