The Arab Reading Challenge announced unprecedented participation in its eighth session, as the total number of male and female students competing reached more than 28 million students, and the qualifiers began at the level of 50 countries participating in the eighth session.

The Arab Reading Challenge witnesses several stages of filtration to select Arab Reading Challenge champions who have succeeded in reading and summarizing the content of 50 books, and absorbing the most prominent information contained in them. The qualifiers are graduated to include grades and stages of study, then schools and educational districts, then directorates or governorates, leading to the selection of challenge champions at each level. A country, whether in the Arab world or participating countries from outside it, and the distinguished champions and the distinguished school are selected at the level of each of the participating countries based on precise, unified criteria that ensure a comprehensive evaluation of the various aspects and data before selecting the winners.

Specialized committees, in cooperation with the Arab Reading Challenge committees, are also responsible for selecting the winners at the level of educational regions, directorates, and governorates, leading to selecting the top ten and the winner at the level of the entire country to participate in the final qualifiers for the Arab Reading Challenge title.

The Arab Reading Challenge, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2015, as the largest reading competition and project in the Arabic language in the world, aims to enhance the importance of reading among participating students at the level of the Arab world and the world, and to develop mechanisms for comprehension and self-expression in a sound Arabic language. To endear Arab youth to the Arabic language, encourage them to use it in their daily dealings, and to open the door for the educational field and parents in the Arab world to play a pivotal role in changing the reality of reading and instilling a love for it in new generations.

The Arab Reading Challenge seeks to consolidate the love of knowledge, reading and learning among new generations and provide them with the necessary knowledge to contribute to building a better future and refining their abilities and personalities.

The challenge also aims to build the value system of young people by introducing them to the values, customs and beliefs of other cultures, which consolidates the principles of tolerance, coexistence and acceptance of others, and encourages dialogue and cultural and human openness.
