It is in the interests of Kazakhstan to establish a solid and long-term peace between Yerevan and Baku.
Publika.az reports that the President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev said this in an interview with the Armenian state news agency “Armenpress” on the eve of his official visit to Armenia on April 15.
Tokayev said that Kazakhstan is not indifferent to the situation surrounding the settlement of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and is interested in the conclusion of a peace treaty between the two countries that are friendly to it soon.
As an initiator and supporter of peace initiatives, Kazakhstan is ready to support any efforts aimed at peaceful and stable development of the region.
According to the President of Kazakhstan, any conflicts, including those related to the territorial integrity of states, should be resolved exclusively through political and diplomatic dialogue in accordance with the norms and principles of the UN Charter. Tokayev believes that the system of values created within the framework of the UN should remain a guide for security and stability in the world.
He reminded that Kazakhstan has previously put forward a number of peacekeeping initiatives and made an important contribution to the organization of multilateral negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program and negotiations on the settlement of Syria (the Astana process).
