Only just under 200 starting places are available: the Wörthersee Gravel Race will attract over 1,000 participants at its premiere
Fields (OTS) – The rush of participants for the first Wörthersee Gravel Race, which will take place on April 7, 2024 in Velden am Wörthersee, continues. In just a few weeks, over 800 gravel bike enthusiasts from all over the world have already registered for the race. There are currently just under 200 starting places available before the participant limit is reached.
The extremely pleasing registration numbers illustrate the international appeal of this gravel bike race. Johnny Hoogerland, UCI Gravel World Champion and co-initiator of the Wörthersee Gravel Race, said: “It’s fantastic to see how interest in this event is growing. The diversity of the route and the breathtaking scenery on Lake Wörthersee make this race something special. It will be an unforgettable experience for all participants.”
Roland Sint, Managing Director of the Wörthersee-Rosental region, is also impressed by the response: “The fact that only 200 starting places are available underlines the fascination of the Wörthersee Gravel Race. This race will not only produce top sporting performances, but also the Position the region as Austria’s leading gravel bike destination.” The Wörthersee Gravel Race not only brings sporting challenges, but also a desired revival of the pre-season. Carinthia is once again presenting itself as a sports region for all Carinthians. You can also take part in the event on Saturday in a relaxed manner with your e-bike.
Cycling enthusiasts who don’t want to miss this unique event should register quickly before the remaining starting places are fully booked. “The Wörthersee Gravel Race is part of the UCI Gravel World Series and therefore an official qualifying race for the World Championships. Both amateurs and professionals are fighting for the coveted World Championship starting places in Velden am Wörthersee.” explains Wörthersee Gravel Race Director Julius Rupitsch.
A visit to the Expo in Velden am Wörthersee with over 20 exhibitors also guarantees an experience. And race day also promises great things. Since the race takes place over three laps, spectators can expect pure excitement.
