Yesterday, the next program was aired within the framework of the West Azerbaijan Chronicle project.

Publika.az reports that The interviewer of journalist Rufik Ismayilov this time was the teacher and researcher of Western Caspian University Adigozel Mammadli.

He mentioned historical facts about the cooperation of geopolitical power centers with Armenians and their support for the Armenians since the beginning of the last century. He said that the people of Azerbaijan, being a proud nation that created empires and built a state, always thought imperatively. However, Armenians have historically implemented a policy of disobedience to kings and sultans, and even betrayed their allies, took sides, and changed their positions if necessary.

The researcher said that at the beginning of the last century, big actors wanted to implement the policy of ending the Turkish presence in this region by using Armenians as well. As a result of the activities of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the Communist Bolshevik politicians of Azerbaijan, this policy of big actors failed. After the end of the Second World War, the interviewee pointed out that the USSR and Turkey were in a hostile position and noted that the Armenians settled in the Middle East were purposely moved to Armenia in those years.

A. Mammadli talked about the claim of Karabakh by the Armenian political elite in Moscow during the USSR, and about sending a special letter to Mirjafar Baghirov for this purpose. He said that M. Bagirov, who works in a leading position in Azerbaijan, sent a strong response letter to the capital of the USSR with the help of historians, and put them in front of the facts. According to the researcher, as a continuation of the resettlement of the peoples of the North Caucasus on the initiative of the head of the USSR, Joseph Stalin, when the question of removing our compatriots from their ancestral lands in Western Azerbaijan came up, M. Bagirov objected to it and opposed the deportation policy of the Kremlin. That is why I. Stalin fired M. Bagirov and sent him on a 4-month compulsory leave by special order.

After the death of I.Stalin, A. Mammadli drew attention to the decrees issued by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in different years and said that in accordance with these decrees, many peoples of the North Caucasus returned to their homeland. However, this did not apply to our compatriots who were deported from Western Azerbaijan. The researcher said that the mentioned decrees should become a tool in our political struggle, demands should be brought up to Russia as the successor of the USSR, and the right of our compatriots to return to West Azerbaijan should be ensured.

A. Mammadli talked about the archaeological research conducted around Goycha Lake in the 70s of the last century. He said that these studies revealed the historical facts and confirmed once again that the territory belongs to us Turks. In the end, the researcher stressed that it is the right of West Azerbaijanis to return to their ancestral lands.
