Qingdao (ots) – On February 10th (local time), the “Germany in Encounter with Qingdao – Together at the Spring Festival” was initiated by the Information Office of the Municipal People’s Government of Qingdao, hosted by CICG Academy of Translation and Interpretation, and organized by the Regensburg Association for German-Chinese Friendship and Culture, which was co-organized, was held in the twin city of Regensburg. The purpose of this event is to help the German people better understand Chinese cultures in connection with the Spring Festival or Qingdao, to perceive Qingdao and to expand the influence of Qingdao in the German partner city.
Before the event, the participating guests of honor experienced Chinese calligraphy, using a brush to write the Chinese character blessing “Fu” to express their good wishes for the Year of the Dragon and to send Chinese New Year wishes in Chinese to the citizens of Qingdao’s sister city and wish everyone a happy new year and much success.
The participating guests of honor watched the short video “Spring Festival” together. Through the short video, the participating guests of honor learned about the traditional customs of the Chinese Spring Festival: sacrificing to the god of cooking, buying New Year’s goods, writing New Year’s blessing couplets, putting up posters with blessing characters, sending red envelopes, and so on.
The attending guests of honor also watched the video of “Urban Landscape of China’s Qingdao.” Through the video, the participating guests of honor had gained a preliminary understanding of the history, culture, economy and other areas of Qingdao, enjoyed Qingdao’s beautiful scenery of red bricks and green trees, the blue sea and sky, and the unique charm of the modern international metropolis.
The event also distributed promotional materials carefully prepared by Qingdao City, which deepened the guests of honor’s intuitive understanding of Qingdao through materials such as Qingdao postcards, Qingdao sticky notes and postage stamps about Qingdao scenery.
