Vienna (OTS) Today, the AUVA and the board of the Vienna Health Association were able to agree on a solution that was satisfactory for everyone involved at a round table on how to proceed with the necessary relocation of the wards of the Vienna-Brigittenau trauma center. The MedUni Vienna was also represented by Vice Rector Oswald Wagner.

With the active support of City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker, a plan for how to proceed is now available.

The relocation of the stations became necessary due to the no longer sufficient fire protection at the Brigittenau location.

It is planned that in the coming week all patients will be informed in an orderly manner about any postponements of their appointments or alternative appointments.

The bridging solution applies until operations in Brigittenau resume in an interim solution that should be in place by the beginning of 2025.

Evelyn Kölldorfer-Leitgeb, General Director of the Vienna Health Association: “It shows once again that we in Vienna can quickly come up with good solutions when all partners sit down at the table. This is particularly true for the healthcare sector. I am pleased about the path we have now taken, which ensures one thing above all: the care of all patients in the quality that they can rightly expect.”

Herwig Wetzlinger, Deputy General Director Vienna Health Association and Director of the General Hospital: “We welcome the agreement in the interests of the patients affected and will provide the appropriate spatial capacities of the highest quality for the transition phase.”

Mario Watz, chairman of AUVA: “Despite the escalating events, the care of our patients was always the top priority. We would like to thank our partners for making the solution possible.”
