US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller expressed concern about the agreements signed by other countries in the field of trade with Iran after Pakistan and Iran signed a number of agreements. This is reported by the Pakistani Samaa TV media.
In response to a question about the agreements signed between Pakistan and Iran, Miller emphasized that the United States is one of Pakistan’s largest export markets. He advised caution to all those who consider signing trade agreements with Iran.
“We advise anyone considering business deals with Iran to beware of the potential threat of sanctions,” the media quoted Miller as saying.
According to the publication, the spokesperson of the US State Department did not clearly mention the name of Pakistan, but reminded about the commercial and economic ties between Islamabad and Washington.
“We have also been one of the leading investors in Pakistan for the past 20 years. Pakistan’s economic success is in both of our interests, and we look forward to continuing our partnership,” Miller added.
President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi is on an official visit to Pakistan. The two countries have signed 8 bilateral agreements. During the high-level meeting held in Islamabad, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields and increase the trade turnover between the two countries to 10 billion dollars.
