The 34th anniversary of the victims of the January 20 tragedy was commemorated with deep respect in Absheron region.
Publika.az informs that at the commemoration ceremony held in front of the memorial monument of January 20 martyrs in Khirdalan city, Abdin Farzaliyev, the head of the district executive power, the heads of the law enforcement agencies of the district, the chairmen of the Council of Elders of the Absheron district and the Public Council under the Absheron RIH, the heads of departments, enterprises and organizations, the families of martyrs, veterans, veterans and the district community participated.
The administration of the region and the participants of the event also visited the Monument Complex built in memory of those who died during Karabakh I, the ceasefire period and the Patriotic War, and laid flowers on it.
Later, Abdin Farzaliyev, the head of the regional executive power, the heads of the law enforcement agencies of the region, with the participation of the martyrs’ families and veterans, visited the Martyrs’ Alley in II Fakhri Khiyaban and the Martyrs’ Alley located in Khirdalan, and prayers were read for their souls.
A meeting was held at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Khirdalan with the participation of families of martyrs, veterans and January 20 disabled people. The meeting was attended by Yusif Sadigov, the first deputy head of the Absheron National Assembly, Abbas Aliyev, the chairman of the YAP Absheron Organization, Nizami Zalov, the chairman of the Council of Elders of the Absheron district, the father of the martyr Vidadi Zalov, the chairman of the Public Council under the Absheron National Assembly, Khatira Ismailova, the mother of the martyr Elchin Hasanli, the chairman of the Absheron district organization of the January 20 Society. Eyshan Iskanderov, Hero of the Patriotic War Gazanfar Agayev made a speech and said that in 1990, the Soviet army could not break the freedom determination of our people, our heroic sons and daughters put themselves in front of bullets and put the freedom of our homeland and martyrdom above everything else. It was noted that the person who raised the first voice of protest against the tragedy was the National Leader Heydar Aliyev. Immediately after the tragedy, the Great Leader announced the massacre committed by the Soviet authorities to the whole world, and in 1994, it was thanks to him that the January 20 tragedy was given a legal assessment. In particular, it was emphasized that as the memory of our martyrs who died for the freedom of the motherland is always cherished, their family members are always taken care of by the state.
