The festival is guided by leading professors and experts from the Vietnam Folk Arts Association and supported by rituals from Phong Coc ward, Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province.
This is a program within the framework of practical activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of Co To district (March 23, 1994 – March 23, 2024).
Since ancient times, people working in the maritime industry have not only been very sentimental but also highly valued their spiritual beliefs. Therefore, when spring comes, before each voyage out to sea, boat owners prepare offerings to worship the Fish, the boat, the wharf… praying for favorable weather, calm seas, and nets full of fish and shrimp. .
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thai – Party Committee Secretary, Chairwoman of Thanh Lan Commune People’s Committee said: “Through the organization of the Sea Gate Opening Festival, we aim to preserve unique traditional culture as well as rituals imbued with folk beliefs. of fishermen in the sea and islands, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the People, arousing the spirit of solidarity, creating motivation for a new year of enthusiastic labor and production.
It is an opportunity for the People to express their respect and gratitude to the sea and pray for a peaceful new year, calm seas, and a full tank of shrimp and fish. In addition, cultural and sports activities, events and activities to stimulate tourism will create a joyful and exciting atmosphere, creating motivation for economic development. From there, the people can rest assured to stick to the sea and islands to build an increasingly rich and beautiful homeland.”
The festival is also an opportunity to promote propaganda work to raise people’s awareness of the importance and great benefits and values that the sea brings to people.
