Russia is rearming faster than expected and could attack a NATO country within three to five years. Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said this in an interview with the Danish newspaper “Jyllands-Posten”.
“Russia’s potential in the production of military equipment has grown enormously,” said the Danish minister.
He emphasized that Denmark should speed up its military investments.
“It cannot be ruled out that within three to five years, Russia will test the strength of Article 5 and the solidarity of NATO. It was not NATO’s assessment in 2023, it is new knowledge that is now coming to the fore,” the head of the Danish Defense Department emphasized.
Poulsen noted that there is no direct threat to Denmark, but the Alliance could face hybrid attacks aimed at destabilizing the member state.
“Russia has a potential desire to do this. Now they may also have a chance to gain military capability sooner than we expected. There are grounds for real concern,” he said.
