This year’s results of the Czech biathletes were unfortunately nothing to brag about. With the end of the season, the biggest star of the national team, Markéta Davidová (27), admitted that things are a bit heated in the team and the conditions inside are not optimal. Jiří Hamza, head of Czech biathlon, and representative Jessica Jislová (29) responded to her words. And from the statement of the competitor, it is clear which side she is on.
Jiří Hamza, president of the Czech Biathlon Union, also responded to the words of Markéta Davidová, who admitted that the atmosphere in the team is not favorable at all. The question is whether he added fuel to the fire with his statement.
“It’s very easy to say that the skis or the conditions are bad, but we really have to start on our own. We are one team and it makes no sense to say that one is doing well and one is doing poorly,” responded Hamza in an interview for Czech Television.
“If Markéta has such an opinion, we have to say it among ourselves and then filter it to the public,” he thinks. “I hear comments about skis, but we are in a new era without fluorine, every team has had it up and down, nothing is ideal, but in terms of material, our competitors have top-notch facilities,” rules.
At the same time, Markéta Davidová has been teetering on the brink of ending biathlon for several years, which would allow her to have more time to invest in her studies and her beloved animals. It is therefore a question whether the words of the biathlon boss will not help her decision-making a little after an unsuccessful season.
Jessica Jislová also commented on the revelation that Davidová made. “The atmosphere in our team is being discussed a lot in the media right now, so I would like to remind you again with this post that this group has kept me afloat this year,” Jessica wrote about a joint picture with Czech biathletes. “Thank you,” she added.
After the statement of Markéta, who particularly highlighted the work of coaches Matt Emmons and Egil Gjelland. But the first-named quit the Czech biathlon team a few days ago at his own request. In addition to a joint photo of the competitors, Jislová also added a picture of her with both coaches.
