“The grounds were not what they should be when a competitor is not doing well,” Markéta Davidová said openly. “I don’t want to make a public statement, but I need to at least hint at it, and when the people who are affected hear it, they might hold their noses,” hopes the biathlete, who certainly believed in better results in the last season.

But she praised the cooperation with coaches Egil Gjelland and Matt Emmons. “I struggled a bit with my shooting at the beginning of the season, but then we eliminated those fundamental problems. If they weren’t here, I wouldn’t have finished the season this year.” she admitted. And the reason surprised many.

“My results and what happened. It was too much,” she was a divine competitor, who in the past already pondered the possibility of hanging her rifle and skis on a nail and fully devoting herself to her studies. The love for biathlon has won so far, but it is questionable whether this will be the case in the next season as well, given the unspecified troubles in the team. “I’ll wait to see what happens in the spring,” said David, faced with the question of what would have to happen for her to quit.

“I don’t think it’s worth discussing. I have a taste for biathlon, but there are some human things that are absolutely unacceptable for me. Unfortunately, it’s in my nature that I don’t like injustice and I often fight for it, even if it doesn’t concern me. That often makes me feel worse, but I guess that’s just the way I am. We’ll see what happens,” she shrugged.

She also admitted that some debates had already taken place with the sports director Ondřej Rybář or the head of the association Jiří Hamza, and it would be fair, according to Davidová, for some more to take place. “I think it’s in order,” she said.
